Deacons are “esteemed servants” in the church. They lead in our care for one another, especially with regard to mercy ministry and benevolence. Jesus made this love a hallmark of his church, as we read in John 13:34-35:

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

In October 2017 we ordained four men as the first Deacons in our history. This culminated a two-year process of nomination, training and evaluation, as they studied the role and responsibilities of deacons, the mission of the church and the manner in which the gospel transforms our love for one another.
